As the 2015 winner, Clinkenbeard was featured on the cover of the March issue of Quality Magazine and is invited to speak at the publication’s Quality Show this fall.
The annual award recognizes plants that have applied world-class quality technology, equipment, services and techniques that have resulted in reducing scrap, rework, warranty or manufacturing costs, improving productivity or cycle time and increasing capacity or improving adherence to quality standards. To be considered for the award, Clinkenbeard had to participate in a four-month long process that included written reports, telephone interviews and quality assessments.
In addition, companies were evaluated on continuous improvement and internal quality programs in place; contribution of quality to profitability and shareholder value; average number of hours monthly that employees receive quality training; scrap and rework as a percentage of sales; warranty costs as a percentage of sales; and registration to various standards such as ISO 9001.
“Being selected as Quality Plant of the Year is a huge accomplishment!” says Karen Spencer, Quality Manager for Clinkenbeard. “This is not only an award that recognizes Clinkenbeard, but every employee within the organization. The entire team at Clinkenbeard takes great pride in the work we do on a daily basis and we’re thrilled that an outside source recognizes our continuous dedication to quality.”
Quality magazine began its Quality Plant of the Year awards in 2005. Since then, there have been winners from across the country, including Oklahoma, Tennessee, West Virginia, North Carolina and Florida, as well as Minnesota, Ohio, and Michigan. Past winners have included companies such as Lockheed Martin, Ford, Freightliner, Kenworth Trucks, Pelco Products, and MBX Systems.
